SYNOPSIS
Kim Boong Doo is a scholar who had supported the reinstatement of Queen In Hyun when Jang heebin's schemes resulted in her being deposed and replaced as King Sukjong's queen consort.
Bong Doo travels 300 years into the future of modern Seoul and meets Choi Hee Jin, a no-name actress who is expecting a career renaissance through her role as Queen In Hyun in a TV drama.
REVIEW
I really like Kim Boong Doo as a character and I think he is one of the best, if not the very best, male lead characters in a drama. He is exceptionally smart that even though he came from the past, he was able to quickly figure out things when he time-traveled into his future.
I think it's great that unlike other dramas with time-traveling themes,Queen In Hyun's Man has clearly defined the time-traveling parameters. It's also amazing how the drama have explicitly considered how certain actions in the modern times affect Boong Doo's time in the past and how some of his actions in the past change some aspects of the current times.
The development of romance in the drama is fun to watch because the lead characters are very up front about their feelings for each other. It's great how they make ordinary acts feel romantic such as saying goodbye (with kisses), and tying neck ties (again, with kisses).
The drama has good directing and the historical scenes in particular have gorgeous settings and elaborate costumes. Sometimes, it seems that I'm watching two dramas in one because there's a plot set in the past and there's another set in modern times, but the transitions between the two settings are quite seamless so it's not really much of an issue.
I have to note that I find the drama's title weird because the character Queen In Hyun does not figure much in the drama. I mean, Queen In Hyun is an important character but she's not really in the center of the story. I think there could be other more appropriate titles that truly reflect the drama's theme but unfortunately, I can't really come up with a particular example at the moment.
