SYNOPSIS
Watsuji Mako is an heiress of a major business conglomerate. She has always lived in comfort, but she is also constrained with many rules. She yearns for freedom to live her own life.

Kurasawa Satsuki is a cleaner at a show pub. She lives a solitary existence without family and friends. Growing up poor, she considers money as the most important thing in the world and she will do anything for money.

Mako and Satsuki are two very different individuals who have the same face. When Mako and Satsuki meet, they decide to exchange lives with each other.

REVIEW
W no Higeki talks about the possibility of at least two people in this world who have the exact same face although they are not related.

Ichijo Haruo: Somewhere in the world, there is a person who looks just like another person. The two people are in completely different worlds and should never meet. They should never cross paths. If they end up meeting... at that time, one of them will die.

The drama's premise is kind of scary because it's unnerving to think that a person looks exactly like another person without any logical explanation, if they are indeed unrelated. However, the so-called mystery was later explained that Watsuji Mako and Kurasawa Satsuki look exactly alike because they are identical twins. It is disappointing because it negates the premise that the two people who look exactly alike are 'unrelated'.

Mako and Satsuki are identical twins but they got separated at birth because the Watsuji family only need one heir so their mother Watsuji Yoshie kept Mako and gave Satsuki away. Actually, Satsuki was supposed to be killed but she was given away instead.

This is a really frustrating explanation because I didn't understand why Satsuki have to be given away or killed just so the Watsuji family only has one heir. Even though they are twins, there is still an elder twin and a younger twin so the family can consider the elder twin as the heir and still keep the younger twin in the family. It was sad that Satsuki had to experience hard times just because she was unfortunately chosen to be the unnecessary or disposable twin.

Anyway, Mako and Satsuki seem to have the same values, although they have entirely different upbringing. They are both willing to deal with anything for the sake of money; Satsuki with engaging in prostitution, and Mako with putting up with the sexual advances of her grandfather.

Mako's grandfather, specifically the brother of her maternal grandfather, is a disturbing character. It seems that he is fond of Mako as a granddaughter but he is always touching her inappropriately. Considering that Mako has to please him because he is the head of the family, it's no wonder that she wants to live a different life.
