SYNOPSIS
Komazawa Hana is a young housewife who lives separately from her husband Komazawa Goro because her husband is assigned elsewhere for work. Hana dreams of being an ideal housewife, one who keeps the house exceptionally clean and one who cooks a wide array of delicious food that requires laborious preparation.
But Hana is an ordinary housewife. She'll only clean if she has to as she hates doing housework. As she lives alone, her house is usually messy and she'll only tidy up the place if her husband comes for a visit.
Hana loves to eat but she's too lazy to cook. Due to her sloppy personality, Hana is an expert at making zubora meshi, literally sloppy meals or dishes that are easy to make and are quite delicious.
REVIEW
The best thing about Hana no Zubora Meshi is the recipes for meals that are very easy to make and quite delicious.The dishes are something slobs and sloppy people can make, but other people may also want to do it because the dishes are good enough.
Even though I love cooking and baking, I am not someone who wants to toil hours on end to make dishes, no matter how delicious, every day. I'm fine with cooking food requiring laborious preparation at special times but I prefer to do more simple dishes daily so I really love the concept of zubora meshi, literally sloppy meals or dishes that are easy to make and are quite delicious.
I usually watch dramas late at night and it was difficult to watch Hana no Zubora Meshi when it's already too late to make food. This is not really a production you would want to watch on an empty stomach, that's all I'm saying.
Komazawa Hana has an extreme personality and I don't think she's actually very ordinary but she's also not someone who's quite extraordinary. People like Hana are not as common as the drama makes it out to be, but there are enough people like her that meeting someone like her would not be so shocking.
I think there are some people who keep their houses exceptionally clean, and most people do light or superficial cleaning on a daily basis, and some people are like Hana who lives in a very messy apartment.
In the same way, I think there are some people who have a well-stocked kitchen, and most people keep the basics (rice or bread, some meat, some vegetables, seasonings, condiments, etc.), and some people are like Hana who regularly runs out of food supplies.
