SYNOPSIS
Detective Kusanagi Shunpei is known to solve mysterious cases and he is promoted to the police headquarters. His junior Utsumi Kaoru asks for his advice on how to solve difficult cases and Shunpei introduces her to his friend who helps him in his investigations.

Yukawa Manabu is a genius physicist and university associate professor who helped Shunpei solve difficult mysteries. Manabu is known as Galileo the weirdo. He is exceptionally smart and somewhat eccentric.

Like her superior at work, Kaoru always approaches Galileo whenever she is assigned to seemingly unsolvable cases.

REVIEW
Galileo is an interesting drama because it uses science, particularly physics, to explain how crimes happen. Brilliant physicist Yukawa Manabu, also known as Galileo, helps detectives by coming up with ideas on how a crime may have occurred and then conducting experiments to prove the hypotheses.

I suppose I understand how the detectives needed an expert in science to help them in solving cases but there are times that he seems to do everything, such as even proving that a criminal intended to commit murder even though the criminal said he accidentally and unintentionally killed another person.

That's the only thing I didn't really like about the drama, really. How Galileo does all the work the detectives must do and how Utsumi Kaoru just brings the difficult cases to him. I think it would have been more interesting if they coordinated efforts and solved cases together.

I like Galileo and Kaoru's working relationship though. They are too different from each other and Kaoru became too judgmental of Galileo's mannerisms, but they sorted out their differences and became relatively good colleagues. I think it would be more interesting if they have a romantic relationship but that was not possible because one of Galileo's defining characteristic is he doesn't know and doesn't care to know about love and women.

Galileo is such a strange fellow. Kaoru catches his attention if she says "it is impossible (for such an incident to occur)" and he always responds, "every phenomenon has a cause". He always says "amusing" if he gets any new information, particularly if he finds said information interesting, and when someone asks him a question that he cannot answer, he laughs maniacally while saying, "I absolutely have no idea."

Yukawa Manabu: When I encounter phenomena beyond my comprehension or incredibly difficult problems, I end up thinking it is amusing.

Galileo is a very interesting character but to be honest, I don't think Fukuyama Masaharu did an excellent job portraying him. It's a personal opinion but I think he was not very good at acting as Galileo because there's a certain disconnect in a sense that I don't see Galileo the character but rather Fukuyama Masaharu the celebrity.
