SYNOPSIS
Detective Utsumi Kaoru is known to solve mysterious cases and she will go to the US for training. Kaoru introduces her junior Kishitani Misa to the expert who helps her in her investigations.

Yukawa Manabu is a genius physicist and university associate professor who helped Kaoru solve difficult mysteries. Manabu is known as Galileo the weirdo. He is exceptionally smart and somewhat eccentric.

Like her superior at work, Misa always approaches Galileo whenever she is assigned to seemingly unsolvable cases.

REVIEW
Galileo 2 is an interesting drama because it uses science, particularly physics, to explain how crimes happen. Brilliant physicist Yukawa Manabu, also known as Galileo, helps detectives by coming up with ideas on how a crime may have occurred and then conducting experiments to prove the hypotheses.

Galileo is such a strange fellow. Other people catch his attention when they say, "it is impossible (for such an incident to occur)" and he always responds, "every phenomenon has a cause". He always says "amusing" if he gets any new information, particularly if he finds the particular information interesting, and when someone asks him a question that he cannot answer, he laughs maniacally while saying, "I absolutely have no idea."

I don't like how Galileo does all the work the detectives must do because I think it would have been more interesting if Galileo collaborated with the detectives and they solved cases together. But things are even worse in Galileo 2 than in previous productions in the series because the other detectives just need a lot of guidance in the right direction whereas here in Galileo 2, rookie detective Kishitani Misa is a rude brat who demands that Galileo solve the cases for her.

Misa could have been a character one could root for; she's quite young and pretty enough, she's very smart and well-educated, and she has a straightforward personality that is not commonly associated with Asian women. However, she has gone over being confident and assertive to having a superiority complex. For instance, she doesn't have any qualms about saying her rude observations out loud even though she knows that she may possibly belittle and hurt other people.

Anyway, Misa is a lot younger than Galileo but I still think the drama would be more interesting if there's a little romance mixed in. Of course, one of Galileo's defining characteristic is he doesn't know and doesn't care to know about love and women, and that has not changed so a romantic relationship between Misa and Galileo was not possible.
