REVIEW
Kuruma Isu de Boku ha Sora wo Tobu is that drama wherein you have to be in the right frame of mind when you watch it. I mean, it's depressing and inspiring all at the same time but if you are not in the right frame of mind, you may end up more depressed rather than more inspired.

Hasebe Yasuyuki has several realizations from when he was a child that are quite uncommon. I think some of his realizations are not true but some are quite true in some ways. It was shown in the drama why he remembered these realizations when he did, but I wonder how and why he realized some of these things when he was younger.

Hasebe Yasuyuki: I realized it from before... only unimportant people will survive.

Hasebe Yasuyuki: I knew it from before... a person who doesn't look like a liar lies more.

Hasebe Yasuyuki: No matter what, it's tough to be alive.

Yasuyuki had injured his spine and he becomes confined to a wheelchair. For someone used to doing things on his own, he had to learn to rely on others more so than usual.

Hasebe Yasuyuki: I'm sure I'll live a useless life going forward... I know it. With my physical disability, just being alive is a nuisance. What should I do? What should I really do? I don't know anymore. Help me... please help me...

Great importance is usually attached to independence that people are often reluctant to reach out to other people and ask for help. Honor is usually attached to successes and dishonor is usually attached to failures that people are often afraid to tell people they have made a mistake or they have failed at something. I appreciate that the drama, through Yasuyuki, says otherwise.

Hasebe Yasuyuki: Why don't you say "Help me!" like I did back there? You may feel so ashamed and disgraceful and you'd rather die... but it won't kill you. It's okay to do that.

It's okay to ask other people for help when you need it and it's okay to make mistakes... It only means you're human.
