SYNOPSIS
Kim Woo Hyun is a police detective that leads the cyber investigation department. It is not commonly known in his work circle that he is the only son of a high ranking police officer and that he has a son.
Park Ki Young was Woo Hyun's best friend and roommate when they were in the police academy but he ended up dropping out. Disillusioned with the police and justice, he put up a small newspaper agency to expose the crimes of the police force and the country's corrupt political leaders.
REVIEW
It's quite hard to talk about the plot of Ghost so I settled with a brief description of the lead characters. The plot is complicated because although some cases are tied in with particular characters, most of the cases are really parts of one big case orchestrated by one mastermind.
Cyber crimes are really something I am quite worried about and I used to think that I'm just being paranoid about privacy and security of personal information but I now think I'm justified with my fears. There's just something really alarming about how some people are capable of accessing private information and using these information without one's consent.
Ghost is a well-written drama because every time the good guys get some evidence on the bad guy, the evidence either gets into the bad guy's hands or accomplices within the police force tamper with the evidence. Although the protagonists know things, they cannot voice out what they know because they don't have any evidence to back their claims.
Lack of substantial evidence is precisely the reason why Jo Hyun Min was not found guilty of his crimes. Although the outcome is realistic considering the circumstances, I can't help but want justice to be served and I really hoped he would be found guilty and would end up atoning for his crimes.
I'm surprised that I appreciate that no romance developed between Park Ki Young as Kim Woo Hyun and Yoo Kang Mi. But I think the satisfaction comes from the fact that Kang Mi was in love with Woo Hyun and now that Ki Young has Woo Hyun's face, there is some concern that if ever she developed feelings for Ki Young, she did so because he has the face of Woo Hyun.
One thing I have learned in the drama is that I have much to learn about computers and technology. Although I already have a long list of things to do in this lifetime, I would definitely add learning more about computers and technology to that list.
