SYNOPSIS
Tottori Kenichi is a foul-mouthed but gifted veterinarian nicknamed Dolittle. His catch phrase is 'pet care means business'. He is the director of an animal clinic and rescues not only 'voiceless' pets but also helps their owners, who lack understanding and caution, with their problems and worries.
Tajima Asuka has just graduated from college and she applies for the nursing position at Dolittle's clinic. She is hoping Kenichi will treat her horse who has a fracture.
Dolittle's friend Hanabishi Masaru is a charismatic vet and host of a popular TV animal show. He is good at making diagnosis but he could not overcome his phobia of operating on animals.
REVIEW
Jūi Dolittle has its interesting moments but overall, it is not exceptional. The characters are somewhat interesting but they don't really make an impact.
I cannot really call myself an animal lover although I do like going to zoos and safaris. I suppose I like animals generally but I don't want to have pets because I think having one is just too much work. I have been able to relate to animals on a personal level recently because my sister has gotten a Shih Tzu puppy and I think that contributed to my appreciation for the drama.
I do think animals are precious beings and pets are really like family to their owners. However, I sometimes felt that certain situations in the drama are unrealistic. I mean, I do think it's important to properly care for pets and take preventive measures so they don't get sick or get hurt but there should still be limits because pets are still animals after all.
I was really hoping that Tottori Kenichi and Tajima Asuka would develop a romantic relationship but they just developed from acquaintances to work colleagues in the drama. They barely even have a friendship because they never really got past acting professionally and speaking formally with each other.
