SYNOPSIS
Kurono Kei was waiting for the train to come on a platform, when a drunk man fell down on the train tracks. Kei's childhood friend Katō Masaru happens to be waiting in the same train station, and Masaru goes down to the tracks to carry the drunk man back to the platform. Masaru has a hard time climbing back to the train platform by himself and Kei tries to help him, but they fall down just as the train comes...
Kei and Masaru suddenly find themselves in a room with a mysterious back ball called the Gantz. Together with the other people in the room, the Gantz sends Kei and Masaru on missions to kill the aliens that invade the earth.
REVIEW
Gantz is an interesting movie about suddenly finding yourself in a dystopian world without any explanation whatsoever, and then you have to struggle to survive day in and day out without any end in sight.
Kurono Kei: I have always believed that each one of us definitely has a duty. Each and every one has his own strength and talent, and there is a place for him to display those to the fullest.
As someone who personally prefers utopian narratives, it's very rare that I'll willingly watch a dystopian film. To be honest, I only watched Gantz because of actor Ninomiya Kazunari since I make it a point to watch all the productions of the Arashi members.
