SYNOPSIS
嵐 Arashi - A Day in Our LifeAlthough the doctors predicted that Tabuchi Kohei or Bussan has six months left, it has been a full year since and Bussan is still alive and kicking. When he asks his new doctor about his prognosis, she says Bussan still has six months left.
Nothing much has changed in Bussan's circle except they already know Aniki's real name Sasaki Kizashi (although they keep mispronouncing it), his parents are going to have a baby boy, Nakagomi Futoshi or Bambi and Moko are dating exclusively (but she's still hung up on Bussan), and Mr. Yamaguchi is opening a Korean club in Kisarazu.
Bussan runs into one of the Korean girls from the club named Yukke in the theater. She studies Japanese by watching Japanese movies. They take a walk and when Bussan suddenly falls ill, Yukke carries him on her back and they cross the bridge to get him to the doctor.
There's a myth that a couple will fall in love when they cross the fated bridge together, and Bussan warns Yukke about it. Bussan has already fallen in love with Yukke and he intends to marry her.
Meanwhile Amaenbo House, the orphanage where the members of Kishidan grew up, is in trouble. They organized a rock festival in Kisarazu to raise funds for the orphanage and they asked Bussan and his friends to help out. Kisarazu Cat's Eye will perform in the rock festival and release their own CD but they must write an original love song.
REVIEW
I understand Kisarazu Cat's Eye ～Japan Series～ better than the drama. Since it is only around two hours long, it was easier to watch it a couple of times. There's a lot of funny moments in the movie.
When Tabuchi Kohei or Bussan breaks the news that he has six months to live, his friends were quite nonchalant about it and Sasaki Kizashi or Aniki even changed the subject. When Bussan demands them to react to the news, they say they've already gone through it a few times.
I like how Bussan lived longer than doctors predicted he would. I suppose it supports the fact that really, no one can predict anything so it's better to just focus on living your life to the fullest.
Moko wants to go with the guys to the Korean club but Nakagomi Futoshi or Bambi wouldn't let her. Moko tells Bambi it's okay to let loose even though she's there. Bambi asks what she would do if he accidentally kisses one of the girls and Moko replies that she'll accidentally kiss Bussan. Bambi tells Moko that Bussan will kiss other girls in the club and ignore Moko. This upsets Moko and Bambi indignantly asks why it is okay for him to kiss others but it is not okay for Bussan to do so.
I think it's weird that Bambi, smart guy that he is, likes a stupid girl. Thinking about it, it is even more unbelievable that he is in a relationship with someone who is pining for his close friend. But the Bambi-and-Moko moments are really funny though.
Bussan memorizes a few Korean phrases to tell Yukke that he loves her and he wants to marry her. Emotionally overwhelmed, Yukke replies in Korean, telling him that she also loves him and that she's really happy. Considerably distaught because he cannot understand anything, he asks Yukke if his love and marriage proposal are rejected.
I like this movie mainly because of Bussan's love story. It was difficult for him to propose to Yukke knowing he only has a few months left to live but I'm glad he chose to confess to Yukke and that they chose to live happily together, no matter how limited their time together may be.
