Bambi brings Sasaki Kizashi or Aniki and Okabayami Shingo or Master back to Kisarazu. They all think Bussan wants them to build a baseball field which they did with the help of other Kisarazu residents. The guys run into Uchiyama or Uchi who is in some trouble of his own.
Finally getting together, the Kisarazu Cat's Eye talks about how they regret not properly saying goodbye to Bussan. And then they are given the surprise of their lives when they come across Bussan's ghost.
Together once again, the gang gets into trouble with Japan's Defense force and with the ghosts of an American baseball team.
REVIEW
Kisarazu Cat's Eye must have been quite popular to command a second movie sequel entitled Kisarazu Cat's Eye ~World Series~. It is sad that Tabuchi Kohei or Bussan has died, but the premise of the Kisarazu Cat's Eye series is that he is dying. In a way, it would be frustrating if he is still alive this time around.
It is also unfortunate that Nakagomi Futoshi or Bambi, Sasaki Kizashi or Aniki, Okabayami Shingo or Master, and Uchiyama or Uchi have lost touch with each other after Bussan died. I suppose it is inevitable that they would all go their separate ways in time, with each one of them focusing on their own careers and families.
Bambi, Master, Aniki, and Uchi are regretful that they were not able to properly say goodbye to Bussan. It got me thinking; how do you actually properly say goodbye to dying loved ones? I'm afraid I didn't really get the significance of the 'properly saying goodbye to Bussan' scene in this movie.
I think this movie was made mainly to satisfy fans' desire to see Kisarazu Cat's Eye once again. I honestly did not enjoy it as much as I did the drama and the first movie sequel.
However, it is good that this movie was made because it showed Bussan's family and friends moving on with their lives. Some people in Bussan's circle are initially caught up in the past but they were able to get themselves and their lives in order. I suppose since Bussan tried to live his life to the fullest, it is also fitting that his family and friends try to do the same in his memory.
