SYNOPSIS
The Bridgerton is one of the most illustrious families in the ton. The matriarch, Violet Bridgerton, is the Dowager Viscountess, and the head of the family is her eldest son Anthony Bridgerton, Viscount Bridgerton. The dowager viscountess has other children named Benedict Bridgerton, Colin Bridgerton, Daphne Bridgerton, Eloise Bridgerton, Francesca Bridgerton, Gregory Bridgerton, and Hyacinth Bridgerton.
Daphne enters her first season with glowing favors from Queen Charlotte, and she is determined to make a love match, like her parents.
Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, has to attend to his social obligations, but he has no intention to ever marry.
Lady Whistledown, an anonymous author, releases weekly publications on the noble families of the ton. Unlike other scandal papers, Lady Whistledown doesn't use pseudonyms, and uses the proper names and full titles in her work.
REVIEW
This series is very interesting, giving us a view of the Regency era, if it is a just and equal society. Although it is based on the Bridgerton series of books by Julia Quinn, in particular the romance novel The Duke and I, the series had put its own modern interpretation of the society then.
It's fascinating how the Regency era world is very different in so many ways, and it's also interesting how this world is similar to the modern world in many other ways. People then have the same issues and concerns when it comes to their career, to their families, to their friendships, to their romantic relationships, and to their social roles to some extent.
It's frustrating that much of the issues between Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset could have been resolved if they had only talked to each other, and had been honest and straightforward with each other, Many other issues that they have, for instance Daphne with her mother Violet Bridgerton, could have also been addressed with proper communication.
There are apparently plans to continue the Bridgerton series, with Bridgerton 2 particularly based on the romance novel The Viscount Who Loved Me. I look forward to what else is in store in this series.
