SYNOPSIS
Six childhood friends often play together in their secret base, and they formed the group Super Peace Busters.
Yadomi Jinta, also known as Jintan, is the leader of the group. He always comes first when they play games, and everyone tends to follow him.
Honma Meiko, also known as Menma, is the crybaby of the bunch. She likes wearing white dresses during the summer, and she seems to like Jintan.
Matsuyuki Atsumu, also known as Yukiatsu, often comes second to Jintan when they play games. Yukiatsu also likes Menma, and he thinks she likes Jintan.
Anjo Naruko, also known as Anaru, is the quiet girl who tends to follow along. Anaru also likes Jintan, and she thinks he likes Menma.
Tsurumi Chiriko, also known as Tsuruko, is a considerate person and she tries to make everyone get along. Tsuruko likes Yukiatsu, but she thinks he likes Menma.
Hisakawa Tetsudo, also known as Poppo, is the playful one of the bunch. He is boisterous, and he likes having fun with everyone.
The five friends grew apart when Menma died because of an accident. Seven years after her death, Jinta started seeing Menma's ghost. She has returned to ask Jintan and her other friends to help her fulfill her forgotten wish that she made before she passed away.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai is a drama about how the past influences the present and the future. It is about how people come to terms with the past in different ways, but unless they truly accept what has happened, it would be impossible to really move on.
Matsuyuki Atsumu, also known as Yukiatsu: Everything you say you don't care about, is always something you actually care about.
Yadomi Jinta (Jintan), Anjo Naruko (Anaru), Tsurumi Chiriko (Tsuruko), Matsuyuki Atsumu (Yukiatsu), and Hisakawa Tetsudo (Poppo) have grown apart after the death of their childhood friend Honma Meiko (Menma). Tragedies sometimes bring people together, but it also sometimes cause people to detach from others who experienced the same ordeal.
Jintan, Anaru, Tsuruko, Yukiatsu, and Poppo all blame themselves for indirectly causing Menma's death. Although they couldn't really have much control over Menma's accident, they still own responsibility over the outcome.
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai explores the dark emotions of humanity, from jealousy to anger to remorse.

Honma Yoko: You all have it so easy. Are you still close to the other kids? You know, the ones that were playing with you on that day. It looks like Meiko ended up being left out... Why was it just my daughter? When you've grown up so big...
The drama talks about rebirth, that people are reborn as something else when they die. It was something that was discussed but was not thoroughly explored, yet it still made me wonder what I think about the concept.
