Jeremiah - Nanghihinayang (Regretting)
Basha Belinda Eugenio and Popoy Gonzalez have been together for five years, since they were in college. They also work together in a big firm; Basha as an architect and Popoy as an engineer.

Although they are already making plans to get married next year, Basha has some issues with her relationship with Popoy that she couldn't discuss with him. She suddenly breaks up with Popoy, and she also quits her job.

REVIEW
Erik Santos - I'll Never Go
Introvoys - I'll Never Go Far Away From You
One More Chance is about a couple who tried to make a relationship work but they couldn't, so they had to go their separate ways in order to grow up and become better versions of themselves.

The movie has a lot of interesting dialogues that caught my attention. I'm just going to list it all down though, because I don't really plan on expounding and reflecting on any particular line.

Basha Belinda Eugenio: So l can't make decisions for your job but you can make decisions for mine?

Basha Belinda Eugenio: What if we're not growing together anymore? What if we could be happier but we stick to this; to what's safe, what's okay?
Popoy Gonzalez: Do you really believe that?
Basha Belinda Eugenio: I don't know, but I know something's wrong if I'm asking these questions. It's almost as if there wouldn't be a Basha without a Popoy. I want to find a life and a job where I know my worth. l want things for myself, not just because you think it's what's best for us. But l can't do that when you've got everything planned out. l can't even solve my own problems because you solve them for me. It feels as if I'm surrendering everything to you. It's suffocating me. It's exhausting.
Basha Belinda Eugenio: I want to stop wondering 'what if', I want to know 'what is'.

Krizzy ?: Bash, you know me, I'd usually tell you to try and fix things. But if this is really what both of you need, then just be strong. It's going to be difficult and painful but hopefully, all the pain will be worth it.

Popoy Gonzalez: Bash, wait up. Do you really want to get away from me that you have to do this?
Basha Belinda Eugenio: Not everything is about you.
Popoy Gonzalez: Then why the hell are you doing this? Bash!
Basha Belinda Eugenio: Because this is what l want.

Popoy Gonzalez: Basha, what about us?
Basha Belinda Eugenio: There's no more 'us', Popoy.
Popoy Gonzalez: That's it? Five years, Bash. You're just going to throw that all away? You're not even going to give me another chance to fix this?
Basha Belinda Eugenio: I already gave five years of my life to this relationship. It's about time you give me what l want.
Popoy Gonzalez: But Basha you're asking for too much. You want to disappear from my life.

Mark Yaneza: Well, it's an exciting time, Basha, but at the end of the day, though some things change, some things still remain the same. So don't you ever forget the old you.

Popoy Gonzalez: Don't you know the 3-month rule?! Everyone who has ever fallen in love and broken up knows that! You have to let three months pass first before you find another boyfriend. Don't you know that?!

Anj ?: Oh well, there's no point in lying...

Popoy Gonzalez: She loved me at my worst. You had me at my best, and you threw it all away.

Popoy Gonzalez: Chino, if I survived through it, you can also get through a tough break-up. Remember when I was going through the same thing? You were the one who told me that maybe the ones we love leave us because someone better is supposed to come into our lives, and they'll love us more. They won't hurt us or give us false hopes, and that person will be the one to right all the wrongs in our lives.

Mark Yaneza: Bash, don't ever think it was a mistake that you chose to find yourself, that you chose to love yourself a little bit more.
...
Mark Yaneza: Bash, sometimes it's better for two people to break up so they can grow up. It takes grown-ups to make relationships work.

Anyway, I tried so hard to like One More Chance but after watching it a few times, I am resigned to the fact that I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the film. I think it was good but it didn't speak to me.

Popoy Gonzalez and Basha Belinda Eugenio have such a dysfunctional relationship that I'm amazed they even lasted for five years. It's just strange to let a person have so much control over your life the same way that Popoy had over Basha, even to the point of not allowing her to eat the skin of the fried chicken that she is having for lunch.

I understand that Popoy is just concerned about her health, and I have nothing against Popoy giving his opinion on healthy ways of eating. But I was annoyed when he removed the chicken skin before letting Basha eat the fried chicken, and when he refused to give the chicken skin to her after she asked for it. I mean, she is an adult and she should act like one, and he should let her be one instead of treating her like an immature child.

It's not surprising that Basha broke up with Popoy to find herself. However, I am astonished that the movie presented Basha as losing herself when she was in a relationship with Popoy and then becoming a better version of herself when she broke up with him because then, what happens when she gets back together with him? What is the assurance that she will remain strong and independent even if Popoy is back in her life?

Furthermore, I am disappointed when Popoy fell apart after his break-up with Basha. Although he is going through a difficult time personally, I think he should have been sensible enough to keep his wits around him, at least professionally. The world goes on even if you're having a personal crisis, unfortunately.

I am also confused with how lightly the movie dealt with time and the future, as if Basha and Popoy have all the time in the world to work out their issues separately before they can get back together and live happily ever after.

For instance, Basha subconsciously thought that Popoy will wait for her to resolve her issues, which is why she was surprised to find out that he is already in a relationship with another woman. Likewise, Popoy informed Basha that he is now the one who needs time to deal with his hang-ups, and he is somehow expecting that she will wait until he becomes ready to start over.

The thing is, I'm too much of a realist that I can't help but wonder, what if after some time have passed, one or both of them suddenly decide that they are better off as former lovers? What if one or both of them meet someone else who they would want to spend the rest of their lives with? What if one or both of them passes on to the next life without them reuniting and getting married?

By the way, I wondered about the lead characters' names, whether these are real names or just nicknames, the whole time I was watching the movie. I had looked it up, and the name Basha is of Polish origin and it means stranger. I can't find any information on the name Popoy though.
