SYNOPSIS
Shinichi Chiaki and Megumi Noda, better known as Nodame, graduate from Momogaoka College of Music and they go to France to pursue graduate studies in music.

Shinichi's dream is to be a world-renowned conductor. He enters an international competition for conductors to test his abilities.

Nodame attends the music conservatory and her dream is to play the piano for Shinichi. After her hard work, Nodame was given a chance to have a mini recital. During the recital, Chiaki saw her worth and realized that he cannot go on with out her.

REVIEW
I like Nodame Cantabile because it's a way to educate people about classical music and a way to encourage people to appreciate orchestra. I don't know a lot about classical music but I really like the drama's soundtrack.

I didn't really enjoy this special as much as I enjoyed the drama because only lead characters Megumi Noda, or Nodame, and Shinichi Chiaki are in this production. Well, Yasunori Kuroki is also in the second episode but he is not featured very much. The other characters are also in this special but they appear through phone calls and it's not really the same as when everyone is working together in an orchestra.

Shinichi and Nodame were considered as exceptionally talented and in a league of their own when they were in Japan so it was quite a wake-up call to both of them when they found out that their classmates in graduate school are equally gifted and remarkable.

Studying abroad is such a learning experience for Nodame because in a new environment and with different professors, she was forced to go out of her comfort zone and learn music properly.

Assistant Professor Majiro: Have you done any analysis? Analyzing musical compositions is difficult so it is essential to analyze the artists' period and mentality when playing the artists' music.
Nodame: I can't do analysis. I can't read music. I've never had this type of training before.
Assistant Professor Majiro: You never did it in Japan? You attended a music academy, didn't you?
Nodame: I never did it.
Assistant Professor Majiro: Then do it!
Nodame: But I don't understand it.
Assistant Professor Majiro: Then try to understand it.
Nodame: I wonder why I'm playing the piano...
Assistant Professor Majiro: In that case, quit! Go back to Japan and play the pieces you want the way you want to.
