SYNOPSIS
Mu Yeol is a taekwondo instructor struggling to make ends meet because not a lot of students are enrolling in his taekwondo classes.
Yong Su owns a manhwa shop and he has no dreams whatsoever. Yong Su's brother died mysteriously when he went out to buy a birthday cake for young Yong Su many years ago.
Hee Kyung is a tarot card master and a fortuneteller. She used to be a seer as a child but she soon found out that it's not a good thing to see things not everyone can see and even more terrible to tell people what she sees.
Mu Yeol, Yong Su, and Hee Kyung all live in the same building and are good friends. They like to hang out at an abandoned inquiry agency in their building, talking about what they would do if they have a lot of money.
Eun Jae drops by on the inquiry agency one day and sees the three people lounging about. She enlists the services of Mu Yeol, Yong Su, and Hee Kyung to help her find some gold treasures. With the promise of huge payments, the three agree to join Eun Jae in her treasure hunting project.
REVIEW
I'm still not sure what made me watch Evasive Inquiry Agency but I'm really glad I watched it. I'm not sure how to categorize it even, it seems like it's in a league of its own.
Although the story involves investigating some crimes and looking for missing possessions, the drama is less about these things and more about the different characters and their relationships, especially with each other.
I really like all of the main characters in the drama. They are complicated characters but they are completely relatable. I could see parts of myself in Mu Yeol, Yong Su, Hee Kyung and Eun Jae.
This is the only Korean drama I've watched that doesn't focus on any particular romantic story line. Bumbling Mu Yeol falls in love with the pretty heiress, but Eun Jae does not reciprocate his feelings. Mu Yeol's attempts to show his affection and to confess his feelings are actually some of the great laugh-out-loud moments.
