SYNOPSIS
Rookie investigator Kazuki Shōko has just returned from the US after being trained by the FBI in the art of criminal profiling. She is recruited by a newly-formed Crime Profiling Support (CPS) unit within the Metropolitan Police Department.

The Crime Profiling Support (CPS) unit is composed of psychologist Yuki Akira, forensic medicine pathologist expert Terada Takehiko, statistics specialist Shinbori Keisuke and spiritual psychologist Shōko.

Criminal Profiling: By analyzing the criminal's acts and mentality scientifically, it's a way of investigating that estimates the criminal's picture. In order to deal with brutal criminals that are impossible to understand, an expert team of four profilers called Crime Profiling Support (CPS) unit has been developed in Japan's Metropolitan Police Department.

Shōko gets to work cracking the department’s most frustrating cases which offer only scanty clues and no apparent motives. She must apply all the behavioral and analytic tools of her trade to painstakingly build the criminal profiles that will lead her and her team on the right trail.

A realistic depiction of the profiling process and forensic analysis, the drama exposes the sinister underbelly of society and sheds light on the murky landscape of the criminal mind.

REVIEW
The profiling process is very interesting because the Crime Profiling Support (CPS) unit try to determine the criminal by conducting forensic analysis on any information gathered from his statements and actions, and evaluating historical research of similar cases.

I'm amazed at how informative one's words and actions are about one's character: sex and gender, age or age range, level of intelligence, personality, and peculiarities. I don't really know if it is too far-fetched or if it is an accurate presentation that the team in the drama has managed to determine specific details about the criminals such as fashion choices, exact speech patterns, and family history.

It was initially hard to get behind the Crime Profiling Support (CPS) unit composed of Yuki Akira, Terada Takehiko, Shinbori Keisuke and Kazuki Shōko because each of them has a field of expertise and each of them is convinced that their particular field of expertise is superior to others in terms of criminal profiling.

It took a while for them to acknowledge that their field of expertise is just one aspect of criminal profiling and all fields are necessary in order to get a better criminal profile for their cases. One major theme in the drama is how they all eventually learned over time to work as a team.

However, I was a little freaked out by Shōko's method of figuring out the criminal by trying to get inside the criminal's head, or essentially becoming the criminal herself. I suppose her way may possibly be the best method to find a criminal and figure out his intentions.
