SYNOPSIS
Osawa Eriko is a beautiful woman and an accomplished detective who has just returned from the US for training. She is appointed as the "boss" of a newly created criminal investigation division of the police department.

Although the heads of the other divisions were asked to send their best people to the newly created division, they sent their problem employees instead. Can Eriko manage to do her job well and lead her people to do the same?

REVIEW
I like Osawa Eriko as a character; she's so far from the traditional lead girl character that she's so refreshing. She's not apologetic about the fact that she's forty years old and unmarried. She has a no-nonsense attitude that even guys are taken aback with.

It's funny how it seemed that Eriko got the problem employees of the other divisions as part of her team but under her guidance and leadership, these people turned out just right for the job.

I find Boss interesting mainly because it felt like I was part of Eriko's team tasked with solving the crimes and finding the perpetrators. There were enough twists and turns in the development of the story that I was kept in suspense, trying to make sense of things.

Although romantic plots are not necessary in a drama, especially if it falls under the mystery or detective genre, I admit that I was expecting some sort of romantic side story given that there are a lot of main characters in the drama. I was hoping for some romantic development between Osawa Eriko and her friend Nodate Shinjiro but it seems that they are truly just friends and colleagues. I was also hoping for some romantic development between Katagiri Takuma and Kimoto Mami but nothing happened between them. This is quite a disappointment really because I think it would have made the drama more interesting in some ways.

I really enjoyed the drama, so much so that I'm looking forward to watching other dramas under the same genre. I can't believe it took a while before I finally watched a crime investigative drama but better late than never, I suppose.
