SYNOPSIS
V6 - Feel Your BreezeYamaguchi Kumiko had always wanted to be a teacher. Unknown to many, Kumiko is an heir to a notorious yakuza clan. Her family accepts that Ojou, as they fondly call her, would rather be a teacher instead of leading the clan in the future.
Kumiko is offered a teaching position at Shirokin Gakuen and she looks forward to making a difference in her students' lives. On her first day of work, she finds out that she will be the homeroom teacher of class 3-D where the most difficult students are gathered.
Most 3-D students don't study, they have the sloppiest uniforms, and they have no respect for their teachers. Can Kumiko handle her students and can she make better men out of these juvenile delinquents?
REVIEW
D-51 - No More CryGokusen is a very interesting drama. I really like how Kumiko believes on her problem students even though the rest of the world have already given up on them. It's nice how she looks beyond her students' appearance and past mistakes, and I wish there are more people like her in this world.
I'm afraid that I'm like most people; I tend to also judge other people based on their choices, decisions, and actions. So I initially felt that the class assigned to Kumiko is a hopeless case.
I'm really glad I'm proven wrong. I think it is important to always remember that people are inherently good and to believe that people can always change for the better.
Yamaguchi Kumiko: You only get to see the inside of people when you drop all your pretense and hang out with them. The outer appearance and the inside aren’t the same, are they? What do you know from a person from looks or title alone? You can’t see what’s inside. Do you know just by looking that this guy would endure anything for his sister? Can you tell that this guy takes really good care of his mother? Can you tell that all these guys have kind hearts and have compassion for others?
Yamaguchi Kumiko: At first, I didn’t know that myself. But after spending a lot of time with them … I began to see that my students are kindhearted; people who understand duty and compassion. I believe in these guys, in my students!
Yamaguchi Kumiko: They are not completely mature yet, so they sometimes make mistakes and do the wrong thing. But please don’t label them as delinquents and write them off for that. It’s just that these guys make a few more mistakes than others. That’s how they are. It was only for three months, but every day was really fun and fulfilling. I’m proud to have been a teacher to those Shirokin 3-D students who have their hearts in the right place.
The drama touches on a lot of topics such as following one's dreams, establishing and keeping relationships (i.e. family and friendship), the importance of studying, etc. The drama also talks about how life is all about getting up every time you get knocked down by unfortunate circumstances.
Although the drama tackles serious topics, there are a lot of comedic moments such as Kumiko trying to hide her yakuza background from her colleagues and students. It is also funny how everyone compares Kumiko, with her boyish ways, with the pretty and feminine English teacher Fujiyama Shizuka and she always falls short.
