SYNOPSIS
Yoon Hye Jin went to the small town of Gongjin to clear her head, because of all the work issues she had to deal with. She then made an impulsive decision to move to the small seaside town from Seoul City, and open her own dental practice.

Hye Jin frequently runs into Hong Du Sik, more popularly called Chief Hong by the locals, in the process of relocating to Gongjin; from acting as an agent who leases her an office unit and a residential property, to acting as an all-around contractor who fixes the office unit and the house.

Du Sik does a lot of part-time work; as a barista in a coffee shop, as a cashier in the neighborhood grocery store, as a delivery guy for a Chinese restaurant, and as a cook and waiter in a Korean restaurant.

REVIEW
Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is an interesting drama about living in a very small town where everyone knows everyone, and where, for better or worse, everyone feels entitled into knowing everyone else's business.

Although it would be nice to live in a place where everyone seems to know you, it's also a little disconcerting to have everyone know your business. This is especially true if you're a very private person.

I can sort of relate to Yoon Hye Jin and her thinking that it's not a good idea to be involved with others. She seems cold and distant, but that's only because once she lets you in her circle, she gets involved in your life, and she cares about you, and she's invested in your happiness.

I like Hye Jin as a character, she's the typical every woman who has a lot of flaws, which makes her very relatable. She does a lot of things and she says a lot of things without thinking, and she reminds you of yourself when you are careless and tactless. I suppose what makes her still likeable as a character is the fact that she never intends to offend anyone or hurt anyone.

Hye Jin's conversation with Hong Du Sik when they paying at the cashier after eating together at a restaurant is also an eye-opener. Hye Jin tells Du Sik that she doesn't let any man pay for her meals, and she proceeds to pay for her own share.

It is also important to note that Du Sik points out what Hye Jin told him about not letting any man pay for her meals when she was enthusiastically telling her university senior Ji Sung Hyun that she's looking forward to him treating her to a meal in the future.

And so, watching these scenes made me come into a realization that when a woman doesn't let a man pay for her meal in a casual way, or when a woman insists on paying for her own meal (or her share of the bill) when she's eating out with you in a casual setting, it means that she considers you as someone special.

Perhaps I am just projecting how I act, but whenever I eat with someone I like, I won't let him pay for my meal if it seems like a random get-together. I want him to ask me out on a date properly, so that I'm clear on where I stand with him and how I should interact with him. Of course, in the first few dates with him, I would definitely want him to pay for me.

I admire Hye Jin for being so straightforward about her feelings for Du Sik, because it takes a lot of courage to confess your feelings to someone, especially if that particular someone had already told you a few times before that he doesn't like you in a romantic way.
