REVIEW
Suizokukan Girl is an interesting drama about work; how important it is to take work seriously, and how necessary it is to do your work properly. Even though we are not passionate about our jobs, that is not enough reason to slack off and be careless with our responsibilities at work.
Shima Yuka always made a lot of problems at work, but even minor mistakes should be avoided at all costs. Especially when Yuka got transferred to work in an aquarium where marine animals depended on people for survival, it is imperative that she works hard and works smart.
I don't like aquariums, so I'm surprised I even watched this drama at all. I suppose I want to be open-minded about aquariums, and I want to see the perspectives of the people who work in aquariums. Of course, I understand that the people in the aquarium take care of the marine animals to the best of their abilities under the current circumstances.
However, I think aquariums are not a natural environment for marine animals. Even though the pools are huge by human standards, the pools are still generally quite small for marine animals such as dolphins and killer whales who are so used to swimming in the vast oceans.
In addition, I think animals shouldn't be trained to perform in animal shows. I know that dolphins do many jumps in the ocean, but they do so because they wanted to and not because they are trained (maybe even forced) to do so at certain times.
Anyway, Suizokukan Girl talked about how certain jobs are more prestigious than others, and about how certain work environments are better than others. This always bothers be because I think all jobs are necessary to make a society work, and jobs alone do not make a person worthy or unworthy.
I mean, people have inherent worth as individuals, as human beings. They are not made more worthy for working in a prestigious role, or for working in a certain work environment.
