SYNOPSIS
Chen Tao Hua is a kindhearted girl who lives a very sheltered life. She has five older brothers: famous weather newscaster Chen He, creative fashion designer Chen Qi, and fraternal twins genius intellectual Chen Cheng and excellent sportsman Chen Zhuan. Her youngest brother Chen Yu Yi is only one year older than her and he is also her closest friend.
He, Qi, Cheng, and Zhuan are quite overprotective of their youngest sibling and only sister Tao Hua. They have instructed Yu Yi to always watch over their sister and to let them know if any guy dares to try to get close to Tao Hua.
Tao Hua encounters Shi Lang when he lent her his umbrella on a rainy day and she falls in love with him at first sight. It turns out that Shi Lang is Yu Yi's classmate in elementary school who went away in second grade to study abroad.
Tao Hua's brothers are alarmed when they find out that Tao Hua likes Shi Lang and they are frustrated to find out that Shi Lang satisfies all of their high qualifications for Tao Hua's future boyfriend.
Although Tao Hua's brothers grudgingly allow Tao Hua to date Shi Lang, they are secretly plotting to break them apart.
REVIEW
Momo Love may take some getting used to because of its strange plot and extraordinary characters. Once you get over the drama's nonsensical plot development and unrealistic characters though, you'll probably enjoy watching Momo Love more than you thought possible.
I understand brothers being protective of their sisters but Chen He, Chen Qi, Chen Cheng, and Chen Zhuan are being way too overprotective. They are always nitpicking when it comes to Chen Tao Hua's suitors but when they find out that the guy their sister likes meet all of their high qualifications, they are still against Shi Lang.
I would think that when you find an exemplary guy like Shi Lang, you would introduce him to your sister who you think deserves the best. I would think that when you find out your sister likes such an amazing person and there's a possibility that this incredible person also has feelings for her, you'll try to come up with ways to get them together instead of finding ways to break them apart.
Anyway, I'm actually more bothered by the four elder brothers' treatment of their youngest brother Chen Yu Yi. They require him to do a lot of things that may prevent Yu Yi from living his life on his own terms. According to Yu Yi, his mission and responsibilities in the family are: (1) protect Tao Hua, (2) go to school and go home with Tao Hua, (3) forbid any guys from going near Tao Hua, (4) whatever Tao Hua wants, always say yes and never say no, (5) always pay attention to what Tao Hua is doing, (6) follow Tao Hua wherever she goes, and (7) always stay next to Tao Hua.
Worse than that, the four elder brothers are caring and providing for Tao Hua to the extreme that they end up being indifferent to Yu Yi, which I think is uncalled for and definitely unnecessary. For instance, they remodeled Tao Hua's room and turned it into a bedroom suite by using Yu Yi's old bedroom, and forced Yu Yi to move into a cramped storage space. They can spoil Tao Hua if they want to but they shouldn't do so at Yu Yi's expense.
