Sakuraba Junko is a part-time teacher at an English language academy. She wants to live in New York, and Junko is extremely focused to make her dream a reality.

When Junko attended a Buddhist funeral service, she accidentally knocked over a bowl of ashes because of the numbness of her legs after sitting for a long time. The ashes fall right onto the head of the Buddhist monk who is officiating the funeral service.

Hoshikawa Takane has fallen in love with Junko at first sight, and he met with her with the intention of marriage. Junko turns down Takane's proposal but he wouldn't take no as an answer...

5-ji Kara 9-ji Made can be a fun drama to watch, and could certainly seem romantic at times. It can be entertaining, if you try not to think too much about its themes, and what potential messages it sends out to people.

I found it somewhat difficult to watch though, because it seemed as if everyone does not respect Sakuraba Junko's wishes. If Junko said "no, thank you" to Hoshikawa Takane's marriage proposal, it doesn't mean "no, but convince me to change my mind".

Anyway, if you're fluent in English and you're trying to learn Japanese, this drama can be help especially in determining how most Japanese speak English with a Japanese accent.  Since Junko works at an English language academy, everyone at her workplace speaks conversational English with each other.

Sakuraba Junko: It's frustrating to have something I can't do.
