SYNOPSIS
Hayami Kyoichi and Kanai Yuriko get married and Yuriko resigns from work to be a full-time housewife. Although Kyoichi and Yuriko initially planned to live separately, his mother Hayami Yoko has disappeared so Yuriko insists that she and her husband move in his family home so she can help take care of his father Hayami Keitaro and his younger brothers Hayami Kenji, Hayami Kaoru, and Hayami Yuzo.

Kyoichi gets to work closely with his ex-girlfriend and he lies to his wife Yuriko about who he is spending time with when working late.

Kenji is fretting about how to propose to his girlfriend Irie Aki, who also happens to be the mother of his son Irie Hinata.

Kaoru misinterprets his classmate Aihara Nozomi's friendliness and assumes she has romantic feelings for him.

When Yuriko and her father-in-law go for a medical check-up, her father-in-law overhears the doctor and the nurse talking about "only having three months' left to live". Her father-in-law accepts his fate and slowly gets his affairs in order...

REVIEW
Hayami-san to Yobareru Hi is about a woman who finds out what it means to be a daughter-in-law to her husband's family.

In this production, the Hayami men's relationships with their significant others, or rather their lack of relationship with a woman, became the focus. I like that the issues with relationships are told from the men's perspective in this drama. There aren't a lot of productions where men are shown as thinking or worrying about their relationships with women.

Anyway, it still bothers me that Yuriko does all the household chores in the family home. Even though she's the housewife, I wish it was shown that the other family members also do their fair share of household chores, or at least they clean up after themselves.

I really think it's unfair that girls and women are expected to do household chores but the boys and men are not expected to help out. I think all family members should be responsible for cleaning up their own spaces and messes, and should also have their own general tasks such as cleaning common areas. I mean, why not?!

It's even more frustrating when the men in the family even order the women to do the simplest things such as getting beer from the refrigerator or getting more servings of rice, which actually happens in the drama. I mean, people should be able to normally do these things for themselves if they are capable and independent.
