SYNOPSIS
Arashi no Shukudai-kun is a variety show starring the members of idol group Arashi. It is all about homework. It has several segments.

宿題 Shukudai (Homework)
The guests have a homework for the viewers, usually about food.

昨日の夜、何してた Kinō no yoru, nani shiteta? (Yesterday Evening, the Guest Was What?)
The viewers are asked to send in their image or impression of the guest, by answering the question, "Yesterday evening, (the guest) was what?" The guests get an idea about how the general public sees them, and can comment whether the viewers' image of them is true or false.

汐留相葉ランド Shiodome Aibaland
The members and the guests play various games suggested by viewers and usually developed by Arashi member Aiba Masaki. After the game, the rest of the Arashi members give the game a rating of either pass or fail. Games that have a 'pass' rating will be played again later on with other guests.

REVIEW
Arashi no Shukudai-kun is an entertaining variety show. The thing is, it is a very guest-centric show and although the hosts would do their best to make the show interesting every episode, how the viewer enjoys each episode depends very much on whether they like the guest or not, or whether they find the guest interesting.

My favorite segment is the Shukudai one because it is usually about food such as delicious ramen varieties, or popular tempura dishes, or different ways of cooking eggs. It is not really a show you'd want to watch when you're hungry though because you'll only feel worse after seeing all the good food.

The Kinō no yoru, nani shiteta? segment is generally a hit-or-miss segment for me. There's really no guarantee that you'll enjoy this particular segment.

There are times that I still find it uninteresting even though I know the guest or I like the guest because the guest may either have boring images or straightforward personalities.

One of my favorite Arashi no Shukudai-kun episodes is with Yoshizawa Hitomi as guest and it aired around October 2008. I found it very interesting because for the Kinō no yoru, nani shiteta? segment, she talked about her experience as a Morning Musume idol while Arashi members also talked about their group dynamics.

Arashi and the Future
Sakurai Shō: Do you have any thought of which direction Arashi should go to?
Ohno Satoshi: Just do as you please.
Ninomiya Kazunari: Is it flexible and liberal management?
Ohno Satoshi: Yes, everyone is not bound by anything at all.

Arashi and the Leader
Ohno Satoshi: It's just, she said that a leader can't say anything if he himself doesn't do things properly. You understand that, right? I don't do things properly that's why I can't say anything.

Arashi and Fighting
Sakurai Shō: Until now, we haven't (fought).
Matsumoto Jun: We don't fight.
Ninomiya Kazunari: Well, you see, Aiba Masaki didn't even go through the rebellious stage... He once asked me, "What is the rebellious age?"
Aiba Masaki: I just wondered what is everyone rebelling about... Let's just be peaceful.

Arashi and Seating Position
Ninomiya Kazunari: In our group, because there are a lot of people with blood type A and only one person is blood type AB. So after all, we do those kind of things clearly because we're methodical. Our seating position is fixed for certain.
Matsumoto Jun: It's fixed. It's fixed.
Aiba Masaki: It's fixed indeed.
Ninomiya Kazunari: Our seating position is fixed for certain. If we've been to one place for two or three times, it's fixed for certain.
