SYNOPSIS
Mochizuki Kotaro is a mild-mannered, immature, and unmanly high school student. He visits a historical library and meets the mysterious librarian Himiko, who recommends to him an ancient book about a heroic general from the Sengoku period 400 years ago. Kotaro notices that he has the same name and age as the general described in the book, and he experiences a flashback... Kotaro later mentions the book to his father, who tells him that he may be the descendent of a powerful samurai.
Kotaro has a sense of justice but he doesn't always have the guts to help those who are in trouble. Whenever he finds injustice happening or someone in trouble, a flashback transforms him into a samurai!
REVIEW
I think I enjoyed Samurai High School because I like Miura Haruma. I ended up also liking his character in the drama and I don't think I would have the same reaction if a different actor portrayed Mochizuki Kotaro. However, I think he is a relatively good actor because he has to basically do two characters in the drama and he has managed to do both roles quite well.
I don't think Anne was appropriate to play Nagasawa Ai mainly because she looks mature and because of that, she can't play a high school student quite convincingly.
I don't like Ai as a character because it's painfully obvious that she likes Kotaro but she keeps denying it even when no one is asking her to confirm or deny her feelings. She's always telling their other friend Nakamura Tsuyoshi, "Don't misunderstand. I'm not looking for Kotaro because I like him. I'm just worried as a friend." After several times of hearing that or similar dialogues, it comes to a point that it becomes irritating.
