SYNOPSIS
Mahigashi Teru is the son of a world-renowned surgeon. Teru and his father had an accident and although his father died, his father was able to save Teru's life. Teru aimed to be a brilliant surgeon just like his father.

Clumsy and simple-minded, Teru hardly presents the image of a reliable surgeon devoted to saving his patients' lives. But in times of crisis when his patients are on the brink of life and death, Teru's powers emerge in his "god hands" and he is able to perform even the most difficult and complicated operations.

REVIEW
Godhand Teru is about how the father's talent in doing difficult operations was transferred to his son Mahigashi Teru when he died, thus Teru can successfully operate on seemingly hopeless cases even though he's a bumbling doctor most of the time. I can't grasp how that is even remotely possible.

I don't really mind far-fetched or unrealistic themes in general but I think there are some cases wherein I can't accept such illogical themes. For me, anything medical-related are serious matters so I think I prefer dramas or movies with such themes to be as realistic as possible.

I can't really relate to Teru's character. He is passionate about saving lives and I think this is a really important trait for doctors to have. However, no matter how much he manages to meet people's hopes and expectations in the end, I can't get over the fact that he is ordinarily clumsy and careless. If I can't rely on someone on the little things, it's a little difficult to rely on them on more important matters.

I have an image of doctors to be professional and restrained at all times. This image somehow reinforces their credibility and dependability, which encourages people to trust them with their lives. I can't put my faith behind Teru because he doesn't fit this particular image.

However, I like the romantic tension between Teru and and his colleague Shinomiya Kozue, a daughter of a renowned medical family. To an extent, it's hard to believe that Kozue would actually fall in love with Teru considering his shortcomings.

But even if the two does not get together romantically, Teru is a good influence to Kozue and can be a valuable colleague. Since Kozue approaches medicine in an analytic and unemotional manner, I think seeing Teru's devotion to the patients helped her become a better doctor.

In a similar way, I hope Kozue can influence Teru to be a more organized and methodical doctor. He should learn that particularly in his profession, he needs to project a reliable and responsible image so that he can garner the respect and confidence of the people around him, especially that of his patients and colleagues.
