SYNOPSIS
Aoishi Hanae is a regular office lady who works at Teiko Corporation, a general trading company. Aside from her work responsibilities, she usually does odd chores around the office such as cleaning the office, taking care of the plants, making coffee for her colleagues, and fixing the copy machines.

Although Hanae has never missed a single day at work, she keeps her co-workers at arm's length. She doesn't socialize any more than necessary, and she doesn't like sharing any personal information with them.

After the company dinner to welcome newly hired employees, Hanae drinks with the intern Tanokura Yūto, who is also in his third year in college. He finds out that it is Hanae's 30th birthday that day and he surprises her with a cake. They spend the rest of the night having fun together, and they end up sleeping together in a hotel.

Worried about what happened and clueless about how to face Yūto the next day, Hanae calls her boss and asks to take the day off from work for the first time in her life.

REVIEW
Kyō wa Kaisha Yasumimasu is a drama about a mature woman who is going through many 'firsts' when it comes to relationships. Aoishi Hanae is such a late-bloomer when it comes to romance that she started dating when she is 30 years old.

Hanae is an ordinary working adult despite her late entry in the dating arena. I suppose she may be a little immature, but that may have more to do with the fact that she still lives with her parents even though she can actually afford to live on her own.

Hanae is going out with Tanokura Yūto who is about a decade younger than her, and their relationship is fraught with many difficulties. For one, they work together at Teiko Corporation and the company does not allow relationships between colleagues, so they have to keep their affair a secret.

However, most of their issues are brought on by the fact that Hanae and Yūto are at very different stages in their lives, and they also have very different priorities. It is something that can't be helped, and they would have to make some compromises if they want to remain together.

Hanae is focused on getting married and having a family of her own. It's understandable that she wants to get married as soon as possible because her biological clock is ticking.

Yūto is still in his third year in university but after he graduates, he wants to go to graduate school to get a degree in international marketing and then he plans to get his master's degree in business administration (MBA) abroad. He needs roughly six years to finish his studies, which has always been his dream.

They would have to give up a lot in order to be together; Hanae would have to accept that she may not be able to have any children if she waits for Yūto to achieve his dreams before they get married, and Yūto would have to abandon his dreams if he marries Hanae because he has to find permanent employment right away so he can support a family.

Hanae and Yūto unilaterally made decisions about their relationship, all the while thinking that they are doing what's best for the other person. It's such a shame because they could have talked about their issues and then they could have decided on their course of action together.

They broke up and went their separate ways, but Hanae and Yūto are still in love with each other and they are both hopeful about rekindling their relationship in the future. The drama ended with Hanae and Yūto getting back together when he came back after studying abroad.

I don't like how Hanae and Yūto resolved their differences, mainly because time is always in Yūto's side and he can always pursue his dreams of further studies at any age whereas Hanae is working against time and she won't be able to have children, should she want to have them, after a certain period.

Anyway, Kyō wa Kaisha Yasumimasu has fascinating side characters. My favorite character is Asao Yu, but I also like Okawa Hitomi, Ōshiro So, Kagami Tatsuo, and Sasano Ichika. I actually watched the drama until the end because I'm curious about how these characters' lives will turn out.
