SYNOPSIS
Kindaichi Fumio is a charismatic individual who relates well with other people because of his easygoing personality and his excellent observation skills. He loves baseball and he spends all of his money bidding on collectible baseball items at auctions.

He is the head of the new projects department at his company. One day at work, Fumio is accused of selling confidential company information. Although he tries to defend himself against the false accusations, he is unilaterally dismissed from the company without the case going through proper evaluation.

On his way home after spending a night in jail, Fumio sees his apartment building go up in flames. There was a gas explosion that destroyed his apartment and all his possessions.

REVIEW
Priceless ~Aru Wake Nedarō,n namon!~ shows how important it is to be prepared for all eventualities. People always think that things will remain the same, especially when everything is going well, that people sometimes neglect to account for when things change, particularly for the worse.

When I think about it, it seems that we always take whatever we have for granted, such as a source of income, and we only realize its significance when we lose it, such as if we are laid off work or fired for one reason or another. We are sometimes even dissatisfied with what we have, especially when we're comparing it to something we think is much better, and we only find how precious it is when it's gone.

Kindaichi Fumio has been working for around 17 years but he is left with nothing after being fired from his job and after losing his apartment in a gas explosion. I felt bad as he goes through a very unfortunate experience but I can't help thinking at the back of my mind that he would be fine if he only has an emergency fund that equals his salary for three to six months.

It even leads me to think that he can find a new apartment, or at least go to a hotel for the night, if he has some savings, and it would be even better if he has some insurance. It seems that most, if not all, of his problems could be solved if he had managed his finances properly but then if he did, there wouldn't be any drama.

The drama also presents the worth of things, even the lowest denomination of money. A $100 seems insignificant when we have $1 million, but $100 is a fortune for people who have nothing. A $1 seems paltry when we have $100, but $1 is quite a lot for others without a cent to their name.
