SYNOPSIS
In Goryo times, Choi Young is the leader of the Woodalchi, an elite group of warriors that guard the king and his queen. King Gong Min and his queen, the Yuan Princess No Guk, are on its way to the country's capital under assumed identities for their protection.
Unknown assassins are following the king's entourage and by nightfall, they attack. The queen was fatally injured and doctors claim only a divine healer can save her.
Choi Young travels to a mythical place in order to find a divine healer who can save the queen. The portal takes Choi Young to Seoul in the year 2012.
Yoo Eun Soo is a 33-year old plastic surgeon lecturing at a medical convention.Choi Young kidnaps her and takes her back to the Goryeo era because of her medical skills.
REVIEW
Although Faith has a relatively good premise, it has a lot of things to say and it keeps going in circles in order to convey its themes. It's trying to tell a lot of different things all at the same time, which makes it seem like a very convoluted drama that can't help but confound its viewers.
Although the main pairing is composed of Choi Young and Yoo Eun Soo, I'm not particularly invested in their love story and it's probably because the odds are stacked against the couple being together and having a happy ending.
Although it is supposed to be a given considering that it is built in the drama's premise, I still can't get around the fact that two people who are from different times are supposed to be together. I mean, they live in different eras for a reason and it seems too much work for Eun Soo to keep time traveling back into the past so that she can be with Choi Young.
In particular, what are the parameters and why is one way more favorable than the other way? Why does Eun Soo have to be the one to go back in the past? And why can't it be that Choi Young be the one to travel to the future so that he can be with Eun Soo?
I did find other relationships in the drama more fascinating and more riveting. In particular, the relationship between Choi Young and his King Gong Min, and the relationship between King Gong Min and his wife Princess No Guk.
