SYNOPSIS
Park Bok Ja lives with her husband Hwang Chang Shik, her mother-in-law, and her four sons in Ojak Farm, a small farm located near Seoul.

Hwang Tae Shik is the oldest son who is not yet married and is not successful at work. He later finds out that he has a son, Hwang Guk Soo, with an ex-girlfriend and Guk Soo goes to live with him in Korea when his ex-girlfriend dies.

Hwang Tae Bum is the second son, with perfect good looks and oodles of charm. He works as a newscaster. Tae Bum has a one-night stand with his team manager Cha Soo Young, who is secretly in love with him. Soo Young ends up pregnant and Tae Bum reluctantly marries her for the sake of their unborn child.

Hwang Tae Pil is the youngest son, with no direction in life. He's not working most of the time and when he does work, he's usually a part-time employee. He starts to work at a clothing store where he falls in love with the store owner Nam Yeo Kyung, a divorcee who is considerably older than he is.

Hwang Tae Hee is a police officer. Tae Hee lost his real parents (his dad his Hwang Chang Shik's younger brother) when he was very young, so his aunt and uncle considered him as their third son. Tae Hee mistakenly accuses Baek Ja Eun as a seller of fake goods.

Baek Ja Eun is a haughty young woman still in college who only believes in her pretty looks and is quick to flare up in anger. Her father dies and all their properties are used to pay off his debts. Alone and penniless, she later finds out that her father owns Ojak Farm and lent it to his friend Hwang Chang Shik.

REVIEW
Ojakgyo Brothers is quite long at 58 episodes, with convoluted plot points and overly dramatic situations. But what's quite memorable about the drama is the quiet moments between the characters.

The best part about the drama is the relationship between the four brothers. They fight with each other but they are also each other's best supporters. More often than not, it is one of the brothers (and sometimes the three other brothers) who will seriously talk to another brother, telling him what he did wrong and advising him on how to make things right.

The romantic scenes in the drama are quite old-fashioned and innocent. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it just called my attention because this drama is created recently and it seemed quite behind the times, considering that some older productions are much more modern, realistic, and risque.

I have several favorite scenes in the drama. I think these few scenes are worth all the hours spent on the drama, and that's saying a lot considering that this drama has 58 episodes.

When Hwang Tae Hee confesses his real feelings to Baek Ja Eun, she replies "Okay, let's go". He tries to figure out what it means -- "Okay (I like you too), let's go" or "Okay (I understand), let's go" or "Okay (so what am I supposed to do about it?) Let's go." -- to no avail. He later confronts her, asking what her answer means and asking her to respond clearly with either "yes" or "no". When she answers that she also likes him, he kisses her. Ja Eun is surprised and she starts to back away. He says "Freeze" and she stays frozen and then he kisses her again.

When Tae Hee's grandmother sets him up on blind dates, he declines saying he's busy with work. Later, when Ja Eun asks him if they should let his family know that they are dating, Tae Hee says "We shouldn't because grandmother will say we should get married right away." Ja Eun tries to act as if she isn't bothered by his response but she can't help but ask angrily, "Then are you not going to marry me? Are you not going to marry me?!" Tae Hee is surprised but he answers "Of course, I am" and he explains that he doesn't think they should get married right away because she's too young. After some thinking, he then asks her, "Did you just propose to me?" and Ja Eun gets flustered.
