SYNOPSIS
嵐 Arashi - マイガール Mai Gāru (My Girl)
Kazama Masamune is a 23-year-old part-time worker in a photography studio. He still can't forget his first love whom he met when he was in high school. Tsukamoto Yoko was four years older and she never got in touch with Masamune when she left to study abroad.

Suddenly, Masamune receives news that Yoko has passed away. He was surprised to find out that Yoko was in Japan for the six years that he thought she was abroad and she secretly gave birth to his daughter named Kazama Koharu. Masamune decides to take in and raise Koharu.

REVIEW
I have been looking forward to a drama starring Aiba Masaki for quite a long time and I'm so glad he finally got to do My Girl. He is not really a very good actor but his charisma definitely translates onscreen.

The drama is about raising children and people who intend to become future parents may find it interesting. It's fascinating to watch Kazama Masamune try to raise his daughter when he, himself, is still very young.

It is to Masamune's credit that he accepted Kazama Koharu as his daughter right away and though uncertain of the future, he is adamant that he wants to raise Koharu. Perhaps part of the reason why he did so is because he is still in love with Yoko but I think Masamune is an honorable man so he would still insist to raise Koharu as his own daughter, despite of whether he still has romantic feelings for Koharu's mother or not.

There were instances wherein the parents in the drama had to make choices whether they want to follow their own dreams or to focus instead on raising their children. Most people who had to make this choice usually choose their children over their dreams; this is usually how most people think a good parent should be.

However, Masamune thinks that it is important for parents to follow their own dreams and try to make their own dreams a reality so as to inspire their children about having dreams and encouraging them to work hard to achieve these dreams.

A parent following his own dreams does not have to do it at the expense of his children; although difficult, he can manage to follow his own dreams and be a good parent at the same time. Of course, he and his family would have to make certain concessions or sacrifices but this is not unique to parents wanting to follow their own dreams; people do it all the time despite of their current situations.
