SYNOPSIS
Matsuki Sōta, Umeno Wataru, and Takekura Rin are all in the 2-B class at a public junior high school. Their homeroom teacher is Usaki Kenya, and he is also their English teacher. He is called Uzaken behind his back, because the students find him annoying.

Sōta have always to go to Shibuya without a guardian, which he can now do because he is already considered as an adult. He has convinced his classmates Wataru and Rin to go with him.

On their first time in Shibuya, the guys ran into Sōta and Wataru's old grade school classmate Gūnjō Hayato. Hayayo now attends a private junior high school near Shibuya, and he goes around town with his old friends.

Hayato told his three friends that teachers are important, and teachers can make a huge difference in their students' lives. He is thankful that he has met good teachers at his junior high school.

Sōta, Wataru, and Rin then decided to change their teacher, and make him a wonderful teacher who they all want to learn important things from.

REVIEW
Sensei wa Erai! is a fun drama about three junior high school students embarking on a makeover for their homeroom teacher because an old friend has told them that good teachers can make a huge difference in their lives.

I think it's important to define what it means to be a good teacher in the first place. I mean, is he someone who can be a friend to the students? Is he someone who makes his students ace whatever subject he teaches? Is he someone who teaches the students about what life is all about?

However, I don't think it's a teacher's responsibility whether his students will have a fun and fulfilling stay in school. A good teacher will definitely make it easier to grasp the lessons, and maybe even figure things out about life. A great teacher can certainly help students find out what they want to do, such as what careers they can pursue in the future.

But ultimately, I think their lives are the students' responsibilities. The students are the ones living their lives after all.

Usaki Ken, also known as Uzaken: There's no such thing as a good teacher right from the start. I realized why I thought that man was a good teacher.
Aoyama Yuki: Why did you?
Usaki Ken, also known as Uza-Ken: It will only appear to those who want to learn. I didn't wish for them to do their best for my sake. I just want them to realize (what I had realized).

Sensei wa Erai! talks about how we can't really change people; perhaps we can influence them to change at times, but that doesn't always happen. We can really just change ourselves.

Matsuki Kikuichirō: It's quite hard to change people... Doing the same thing may be different depending on the individual... It's just a matter of individuality, or a matter of changing how you view things.
