SYNOPSIS
嵐 Arashi - 瞳の中のGalaxy Hitomi no naka no Galaxy
Minami and Chiyomi are high school sweethearts. They went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant after school one day. They had a fortune cookie and the message inside reads "If you stay close to him, he will become great and the two of you will be together for a long time. However, when the two of you drift apart, something horrible will happen."

Minami became popular and a lot of girls are suddenly after him. He broke up with Chiyomi and on the day that he did so, Chiyomi became sixteen feet tall. The message on the fortune cookie actually came true!

They went back to the restaurant to seek the owner's help so Chiyomi can turn back to normal but they find out that the restaurant had closed down. With no one else to turn to, Chiyomi lives with Minami as they figure out how to turn Chiyomi back to the way she was before Minami broke up with her.

REVIEW
Minami-kun no Koibito is a really weird drama because, well, one of the characters became really small and she remained at that size until the very end of the drama. I watched the drama until the end, hoping that Chiyomi will go back to normal but that didn't happen.

I don't know how I feel about the concept that another person's greatness depends on another person. Ideally speaking, it's a great concept that you somehow help the people you love to achieve greatness. From the perspective of someone who became a great person, the support of the people around you is invaluable but it would be nicer to think that you achieved greatness primarily through sheer determination and hard work.

I think this drama was difficult to film for the main actors because they have to act as if they are talking to someone when, in fact, they are talking to thin air. For actors, part of acting is reacting to the other cast members and it must have been quite taxing for the main actors in the drama to do so because there's no facial expressions or body language to take cue from.
