SYNOPSIS
Akihabara is a district of Tokyo city full of manga, anime, video games, figurines, electronic gadgets, and other novelty items. Because most novelty items are only extensively available in the area, Akihabara became the place where enthusiasts and collectors gather.

Otaku have their own troubles and they usually go to a website called Yui's Lifeguard to seek comfort and advice. The site's mysterious owner Yui gathers six of the enthusiasts and introduces them to each other.

Page, Box, Akira, Taiko, Daruma, and Izumu are initially wary of each other but they eventually became friends. Together they are called Akihabara @ Deep and they protect Akihabara and solve the problems of its inhabitants.

REVIEW
I'm not really interested in manga or anime or any other particular theme that Akihabara is quite known for. So watching Akihabara at Deep was a very informative experience for me. The endless range of things that people can be interested in is just amazing. It's also surprising how enthusiastic and passionate some people are about their interests.

The website where most otaku seek comfort called Yui's Lifeguard is designed appropriately. It has an underwater theme and Yui, the site owner, is characterized by a dolphin. The website's tagline "The only way is up" gives so much hope and encouragement to people having a hard time.

The enthusiasts are said to be misfits of the Japanese society so in a way, it's a good thing that there's a place for them to meet people with similar interests. It seemed though that they are misfists more so because they have a glaring social flaw that will automatically make them outcasts, not because they have different interests from the majority.

I think it's nice that six people who otherwise would not know each other got to become good friends. I think it's really important to have a select group of individuals who you know accepts you and cares for you and will always have your back no matter what happens.
